Swede Film Production 20/06/13

Today I shot my scene for the "Crazy 88" battle sequence in the film, i shot in my park as i thought this would be a good environment for a fight sequence while also juxtapose the action with a comedic effect which is common in "sweded films".

Pictures of the locations:

This is a picture of the props i used for the production:

And pictures of the cast:

Bradley Cushing-Lark as the Bride/Groom, as i was sweding the movie Kill Bill i thought i would change the gender of the main character but keep the correct iconography.

Matthew Cushion as GoGo, again i changed the genre but to replace the prop of the ball on the chain i bought a children's ankle hopper to add the comedy to the film.

Jordan Horne as the crazy 88 members, i asked Jordan to wear black to make it look as though he was in the crazy 88 gang.

Brief

I have been set a brief of making my own "Sweded" film. I intend to do this in under 10 minutes to summarise the movie itself and particular plot points.

I have a choice of three films to "swede" they are:

I have narrowed down my choices to these as I feel these will be fun to re-create and will help me with my further work.

"Sweded Films"

Definition of "Sweded Films"- The summarised recreation of popular pop-culture films using limited budgets and a camcorder.

To Swede a film it means to re shoot the film as quickly and cheaply as possible, the mise-en-scene is not important unless filming iconic scenes.

A good example of "Sweded Films" are from the feature film "Be Kind Rewind". The films Sweded include Robocop, Rush Hour, Boyz N The Hood and Ghostbusters.

The plot of the film is Mos Def's character works in a video rental shop and his friend (Jack Black) accidentally erases the tapes, they then "swede" the films to rent to customers but due to copyright infringements they are forced to stop making the films.

As films are protected by copyright laws it is against the law to show the "sweded" film for a profit. If shown for just entertainment with recognition of the copyright laws it is perfectly legal.
