Empathy for Audience

Upon viewing my film my tutor has given me some feedback which resulting in the realisation there is a lack of empathy for both of my characters as there is not of information on their backgrounds or motives and in the case of the prisoner, reaction shots to empathise with him.

To  successfully create empathy I have to film some reaction shots of the prisoner character in order for the audience to relate to them and insert stills/shots to represent "memories' for the main character showing him as a father and having a relationship/missing his son.

To create these flashbacks I have carried out further research of transitions from two directors who are the main influence of my film: Guy Richie & Quentin Tarantino.
